How can I detect if asf active control for playing asf file is installed in client?

Personally, I dont have that particular plugin, nor do I really know
what it is, but the general idea is to detect the plugin first, then
write the line of code that offers the object like this:

  if (navigator.plugins["+fullpluginnameand version+"]){
    document.write("<embed src='abcdef.asf' width=120 height=120>") 
    }
  else {
    document.write("This object requires the asf-plugin<br>
                    To get that plugin go to 
          <a href='http://www.getasf.com/asfdownload.htm'>Get ASF</a><br/>
                    and <a href='abcdef.asf'>download</a> the asf file<br/>
                    when you have it for later use.")
