How do u pass a variable (multiple select) from a pop up window to the main window?

Communication between a PHP page that is already shown on the screen and
another PHP script is only possible by a new call to the server with the
data either in the URL (GET method) or in form fields (POST method). 
This is because PHP is executed on the server and once made, the page is
sent to the user. 
If you want to communicate directly to another page you will need to use
javascript. I find the javascript faqs on www.irt.org on 'windows'
extremely helpful when i need to do such a thing. 
You may also find tutorials that cover javascript in combination with
PHP useful.
