How do you make sure a date is valid i.e. not January 45,2002?

Use the IsDate function.

Example:

Response.Write IsDate("January 45, 2002")
%>
Outputs: "False"

<%
Response.Write IsDate("January 15, 2002")
%>

Outputs: "True"
