What are the minimum system requirements for a UNIX machine running Apache & PHP?

Apr 20th, 2002 01:10
Jonathan Auer, Henrik Hansen, Chassy Cleland,

Depends on how many hits the server is going to serve. apache and php
can run on any pentium class machine and even lower. I would recommend
at least a pentium 200 with 64 mb's of ram for a lower class server, but
great for personal use.
This also depends on what the system platform is.
For example a 50 Mhz Sun SPARCstation LX with 96 mb's of ram will be ok
for low end use (1 hit every 3-5 seconds)
In general on RISC UNIX platforms you need more ram and less cpu speed
than on the intel platform.
