How do I continue code execution after I output a webpage? I want to release the browser do DB work.

If you wanted to execute database queries after outputting the text to
the browser you can write the output ode at the top of the page then
below that you can add the db queries which will not output anything.
Take a look at 'register_shutdown_function' which "Registers the
function named by function to be executed when script processing is
complete."
