Can I halt folder alerts being sent out to me over a certain date range?

Yes, it is possible to halt email alerts over a certain period of time.

Click on the 'My Faqts' link at the top of the page.  Within this page 
there will be a link to 'Email Alerts'.  Follow that link!

The page you are brought to provides you with a number of options.

1. If you are interested in ceasing your mail alerts indefinitely click 
on the 'Stop all email alerts' link.  (Once you've done this the link 
will change to 'Resume all email alerts', when you're ready to resume 
the email alert service click on this link.)

2. If you are interested in stopping the mail alerts until a certain 
date fill in the form with the date you would like to stop all email 
alerts until and hit the "Stop" button.

This will stop all folder and entry alerts.
