Computer: Language: Python: What is the Python computer language?
The Python computer language was created by
Guido van Rossum
in 1987
while working at CWI.
The CWI (=Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica), founded in 1946, is
the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in
the Netherlands.
The 'Python' name comes from
Monty Python's flying circus,
which was a television and movie comedy, with e.g. John Cleese.
The Python computer language is an interpreted, interactive
object-oriented programming language.
