VMWare: Operating system: How to install TurboLinux v8 on VMWare
v4.0.5 for Windows workstation?

 1. -Possibly download the TurboLinux CD

      See:

       http://www.turbolinux.com

      and

       http://www.turbolinux.com/support/download/

to download a trial version of the TurboLinux v8 server.

 2. For the installation in VMWare you do not have
to immediately burn this downloaded file on a CD, that you can do
later. This because you use this downloaded files (which are so
     called .iso images) to install.

 3. -In VMWare create a new virtual machine

      (menu 'File'->'New'->'Virtual machine)

 4. -select from list 'Linux'

 5. -Choose a representative name
     (e.g. 'Linux Turbo v8 server - English')

 6. -Accept further the defaults

 7. -I reduced the memory to 64 megabyte
(to avoid e.g. a slow Microsoft Windows XP
machine, when using 256 megabyte of RAM)

 8. -Inform that you are going to install from iso image

     1. -select in VMWare the menu option 'Edit'

     2. -select from list 'Removable devices'

     3. -select from list 'CD Rom'

     4. -select tab 'CD-ROM device'

     5. -enable radio button 'Use ISO image'

     6. -click button 'Browse'

     7. -browse to the directory of your iso file:

          slackware-9.0-install.iso

     8. -click button 'Open'

     9. -click button 'OK'

 9. -Start VMWare Linux TurboLinux

10. -Press <ENTER> to start the installation

11. -Choose the language (English)

12. -Standard install

13. -Click button 'Next'

14. -Click button 'Initialize'

15. -Generic keyboard

16. -Automatic partitioning

17. -Select network settings

18. -Choose generic for monitor

19. -Choose e.g. 1024 x 768

20. -Installation proceeds

21. -Finished

22. -All together a very smooth installation,
very nice screens in between, very
     professional looking, very easy to
     install.

Note:

There seems to be an issue with the fonts.
They do show only when you move your mouse cursor
over the text. Otherwise it shows only black or
white background.
