Steps: Overview:
1. -Start VMWare
2. -Created a new VMWare machine (menu VMWare, 'File'->'New')
1. 'Typical'
2. 'Windows server 2003' (e.g. 'Enterprise edition')
3. Choose a name (e.g. 'Windows 2003 Enterprise edition')
4. Use 'bridged networking'
3. -The default memory used is 384 megabyte
4. -Put in the Windows 2003 server CD
5. -Start VMWare
6. -This will automatically start the bootable CD
7. -Windows Setup starts...
8. -<ENTER> to continue installation
9. -<F8> if you agree with the conditions
10. -<ENTER> to install Windows 2003 on the 4087 megabyte partition
11. -I chose 'Format the partition using the NTFS filesystem (Quick)'
12. -Setup starts copying files...
13. -Automatically rebooting after this initial installation
14. -Installing Windows...
(setup will complete in approximately 39 minutes)
1. Installing devices...
15. -Choose possibly your regional and language options
16. -Supply your name and organization
17. -Supply your product key
18. -Supply e.g. the default 'Per server' in 'Licensing Modes'
19. -Supply a computer name (e.g. 'WINDOWS2003')
20. -Supply an administrator password
21. -Possibly select your time zone
22. -Installing Network...
(setup will complete in approximately 32 minutes)
This will seemingly pause a little while...
23. -select e.g. 'Typical settings' in 'Network settings'
24. -indicate workgroup (if e.g. standalone machine for testing)
and give it a name (e.g. 'myworkgroup')
25. -Building file list...
(setup will complete in approximately 29 minutes)
26. -Copying files...
27. -Installing Start menu items...
(setup will complete in approximately 19 minutes)
28. -Registering components...
(setup will complete in approximately 18 minutes)
29. -Saving settings...
(setup will complete in approximately 9 minutes)
30. -Windows 2003 restarts
31. -Press <CTRL><ALT><INS>
32 -Supply your administrator password you chose earlier

32. -Install VMWare Tools
1. -select from menu option 'File'
2. -select from list 'Install VMWare Tools'
3. -click button 'Install'
4. -Accept non logo installation

33. -Possibly modify the hardware acceleration
The Display Settings window has been opened to help
you modify your hardware acceleration setting. To
change this setting, follow these steps:
1) Click the "Advanced..." button on the Settings
tab of the Display Properties dialog.
2) On the new dialog, go to the "Troubleshooting" tab.
3) Move the hardware acceleration slider to the right.
This virtual machine's mouse and video performance
will be best if the slider is moved all the way to
"Full".
