Installing VMware Tools in a NetWare Virtual Machine

Steps: Overview:

 1. Power on the virtual machine.

 2. Prepare your virtual machine to install VMware Tools.

 3. Choose File > Install VMware Tools.

 4. The remaining steps take place inside the virtual machine.

 5. Load the CD9660.NSS driver so the CD-ROM device
    mounts the ISO image as a volume.
    In the system console, type

     LOAD CD9660.NSS

    (it is in the '\startup\' directory on your CD, you can
     see it e.g. when you do a
      dir d:\startup\cd9660.ns
     in an MSDOS box)

    This should show:

     LOADING Module CD9660.NSS          [OK]

     Moving ISO9660 CD volume 'VMWTOOLS' to active state

     Volume VMWTools set to the ACTIVE state

     Mounting Volume VMWTools

     ** VMWTools mounted successfully

     ISO 9660 CD-ROM Support Module loaded successfully

 6. When the driver finishes loading, you can begin installing VMware 
Tools.

 7. In the system console, type:

     vmwtools:\setup.ncf

 8. You will then see 'loading module'

    'VMWare Tools for Netware Screen'

    and this screen will remain black

 9. Restart the guest operating system,
    by typing in the system console:

     restart server

10. You can then set a maximum screen resolution of
    1024 x 768

    (I chose 800 x 600 as it better fits in the
     VMWare window and shows it better without
     extra scrolling)

11. To access VMWare tools later, click on the
    'Novell' start button in the left corner
    ->'Settings'->'VMWare Tools for Netware'
    and e.g. choose to synchronize the time
    settings
