Network: Wireless: Microsoft: How create connection directly between
computers (no access point)?
---
This method, called 'Ad Hoc' method, allows 2 or more computers to have
a network connection (but without the usual access point hardware box
connected).
This method is mostly used to exchange data between 2 or more PCs.
You can compare this method with creating a cross cable connection
between 2 PCs.
Possible disadvantages might be:
-limited distance range
-no security possible
-maximum totally about 4 to 5 PCs which you can connect in your local
network using this method

Operating system: Microsoft: Windows: XP
Steps: Overview:
1. -insert your 2 or more wireless network cards (after they have been
installed properly) in the involved computers
2. -you should now see a wireless network icon appear on that
computers, on the Windows taskbar
3. -right click on the Windows taskbar on the wireless network icon
4. -select from list 'View available networks'
5. -click button 'Advanced'
6. -click again button 'Advanced'
7. -enable radio button 'Computer to computer (ad hoc) networks
only'
8. -click button 'Close', 'OK' to finish
