Total Commander: Directory:File:Upload/download: How to synchronize 
local<->Internet directory?[ftp]

To download / upload from your local directory to
your Internet directory, using ftp, you can use
the 'synchronize dirs' option.

To copy e.g. your web site 1 to your web site 2

(e.g. Using ftp, you want to (almost automatically) copy all the files,
      directories and subdirectories on old your web site
      http://www.mycompany1.com to your new Internet web site
      http://www.mycompany2.com)

 1. -Create e.g. first a temporary directory on your harddisk

 2. -Then copy your web site 1 to this temporary local directory

 3. -Then copy that temporary local directory to web site 2

     1. -You can stop (e.g. when the connection to this
         second website fails) and restart many times
         without having to upload all files again and
         again.

         This because it synchronizes with whatever has already
         been uploaded, so you will only have to upload
         the remaining (not already uploaded) files and
         thus not all files (which would be very time consuming).

Steps: Overview:

 1. -Start Total Commander

 2. -Open your source directory (e.g. local directory) in the left
     pane

     1. -Possibly create this directory

 3. -Open your destination directory (e.g ftp directory) in the right
     pane

     1. Click on the 'ftp' icon on the menu bar

     2. Select your ftp site

     Note: to exchange source and destination, use
           menu 'Commands'->'Source<->Target'

 4. -Select from menu option 'Commands'

 5. -Select from list 'Synchronize Dirs...'

     1. -Possibly enable checkbox

         1. 'Subdirs'
             (then also subdirectories are included in the
              synchronization)

         2. 'Ignore date'
             (then only the filesize is checked for, and not the date)

     2. -Click button 'Compare'
         to see which files should be copied.

     3. -Click button 'Synchronize'
         to start the copying of one directory
         to another

     4. -You can also force synchronization by clicking the
         button 'Files to copy from left to right'
