Math: Traffic engineering: Unit: Erlang: What is the Erlang unit of
traffic? [telephone]

---

The Erlang unit of traffic is defined as
(e.g. specific for telephone calls)

(total amount of calls per time unit) . (average time per call) (1)

---

e.g. (2)

total amount of calls per time unit = 80 calls per hour

average time per call = 10 minutes = 10/60 hour = 1/6 hour

Putting (2) in (1) gives:

 80 . (1/6)

= 80 / 6

= 13.33... Erlang
