Total Commander: Ftp: Connection: How to keep your ftp connection
alive? [close / open]
---
Steps: Overview:
1. -Start Total Commander
2. -Click on icon 'ftp' in the menu bar
3. -Select your ftp connection
4. -Click button 'Edit'
5. -Enable checkbox 'Send command to keep connection alive'
1. -Select one from list
'NOOP' (=NO OPeration)
'PWD' (=PassWorD)
'SYST' (=SYSTem)
1. This will send in regular time intervals some
command, in order to keep the connection open
1. To change the time of the 'send interval',
change the value (default is 90 seconds) in
that field
6. -Enable checkbox 'Use passive mode fo transfers (like a WWW
browser)'
7. -Click button 'OK'
---
Note:
This seems not always to work, as the connection will still
be closed on some sites.
---
Note:
for an ftp connection at e.g.
http://www.powweb.com
it was tried to use the 'NOOP', 'PWD', or 'SYST' option, and also
reducing the time interval to e.g. 40 seconds, but there still will be
a disconnection after some minutes.
===
Note:
A possible solution is to replace the 'NOOP', 'PWD' or 'SYST' by
'LIST'. To do so type in the combobox there (so you can type your own
command manually there)
LIST
and e.g. a time of 40 seconds.
===
Tested successfully on
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (service pack 2),
running
Total Commander v6.56
