How to start recovery console?

Steps: Overview:

 1. -insert your original Windows XP CD

 2. -boot your machine

 3. -press any key to start booting from this CD

 4. -Microsoft Windows will now start to load drivers and programs
     needed

 5. -press 'R' for repair in the setup window

 6. -choose e.g. '1. c:\windows', by typing a '1', then <ENTER>

 7. -supply the administrator password
     (e.g. <my administrator password> when logging on on this Windows 
machine)

 8. -you are now seeing a command line where you can type MSDOS
     commands (type 'help' to get an overview of the commands).
