You can very quickly rename a group of files with the Total commander

---

For example:

 rename all files with filename

   bak1
   bak2
   bak3
   bak4

 to

   active1
   active2
   active3
   active4

Steps: Overview:

 1. -Select from menu option 'File'

 2. -Select from list 'Multi-rename files'

 3. -Fill in the data

     1. -Search = <(parts) of your old filename>

     2. -Replace = <your new (parts) of your new filname>

 4. -Your see the filenames immediately changing

 5. -Click button 'Start' to do the filename change
