HTTP - 500 Internal Server Error using Win98, PWS4, PHP4. What gives?
Oct 29th, 2000 14:54
Clay Anderson, Jamie Guay, James Jensen,
Reinstall PWS by doing the following: (This repaired the problem for
me.)
1. Run the PWS Setup program (It's in the add-ons\pws folder of your
Windows 98 CD).
2. Click Remove. (Remove all previously installed components.)
3. Restart.
4. Run the PWS Setup program and re-install PWS.
5. In the Personal Web Manager, right-click on a directory you want to
add PHP support to, select Propertes, and check the Execute checkbox.
Click Ok and close the PWM.
6. Re-run your modified PWS-php4.reg file. (The registry key was
removed during the uninstall of PWS so you'll have to replace it.)
7. Restart.
8. You may want to re-install FrontPage Extensions if you use them.
Test it with something like http://127.0.0.1/test.php
I hope that helps. Now get some sleep.

Jamie-
Thanks for your answer to this problem. I was experiencing the same
error message, had tried everything else (to no avail), but it turns
out it was a bad PWS installation. This made it work!
