How can I limit the number of records Sybase returns and have google like pages ([1] 2 3 ) ?

use:

set rowcount <<number>>

This is not MySQL's LIMIT statement, but it's almost useful.
You reduce the traffic between the db server and PHP, but you have to 
consider that it's not a _real_ delimiter to the query
