Link Popularity and Google Page Rank are co-related with each other but
still with many difference. Today, SEO professionals give importance to
link popularity and very few towards PR(Page Rank).

Link Popularity means the online branding of the website through
different channels and ways. Popularity is common for everyone it can be
defined with an example the name : Coca Cola is a brand name which is
well know by the whole world. This is a type of branding or one can say
popularity. Doing the same for any website and making its name on the
visitors brain is called link popularity.

If any website is popular then it will automatically gain some positive
points from the search engines means importance. Google give PR to the
sites on there importance and the algorithm counts on number of quality
incoming links. But, SERP's are more of impact rather then PR.
