India's rich tropical forests have over 1200 species of birds and 350

National Parks and 372 sanctuaries. The exotic areas are Ranthambhore
(Rajasthan), Corbett (Uttar Pradesh), Gir (Gujarat), Kanha and
Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Periyar (Kerala) and Kaziranga (Assam).
Walking softly, this tiger may be just curious about something new on
the edge of the woods or it may be stalking its prey. His target may be
some distance away in the sparse undergrowth. As dusk deepens, he moves
out of concealment to the edge of the lake. Here the last golden glow of
the sky is reflected. Perhaps the deer are on the other shore. The Tiger
is on the prowl.

Corbett is India's oldest park established in 1936 and named after the
legendary hunter-naturalist and one of India's first conservationist,
Jim Corbett. Unlike Africa, the forest is thicker and game more spread
out, thus animals must be searched for, as if one is on a hunting safari.
